Our Veterinary Services
Regular wellness exams allow us to catch underlying health problems early, provide consistent preventative care, and support your pet’s overall health and well-being.
Our veterinarians are skilled in diagnosing common problems that affect our pets like vomiting, itching, lumps, limping, and more.
Vaccines are essential for preventive care and can increase the chances of a longer, happier life for pets. Ensuring that pets are consistently up to date with their vaccinations can help prevent contracting disease or help lessen the severity of symptoms if a disease is contracted.
Another key component of helping to maintain your pet’s health and happiness is having them on reliable, consistent heartworm preventative.
Heartworm disease is serious and potentially fatal to our dogs and cats. Heartworms are spread by mosquito bites and can grow up to a foot long, living in the heart and lungs of our beloved pets.
Fleas can cause itchy skin, skin infections, and spread tapeworms. Ticks can carry disease such as Lyme Disease, Ehrlichiosis, and more.
From routine cleanings to tooth extractions, the Thrive Pet Healthcare network of Primary Care veterinarians and Dental Specialists is here to keep your pet's smile fresh! Our general practices can take care of everyday dental maintenance with outstanding regular check-ins, cleanings, and basic surgeries.
Meanwhile, our specialty veterinarians are prepared to handle more complex or chronic dental cases like a root abscess, jaw fracture, abnormal tooth formation, or advanced periodontal disease. These doctors are highly trained within the field of veterinary dentistry and have access to specialized equipment, typically unavailable at primary care clinics.
It's hard to provide care without knowing the root of what is ailing your pet, which is why diagnostic testing is so important. Diagnostic testing can include laboratory testing (blood, urine, and fecal) and diagnostic imaging like X–rays, CT, MRI, and ultrasound.
As pet parents, we dread the thought of our fur-children ever getting sick enough to require emergency care. Unfortunately, accidents and illnesses do occur, so our exceptional emergency care teams are here to help in your time of need.
We will be by your side during this time of need to offer both medical assistance and emotional support.
As an AAHA-accredited veterinary hospital, Village Veterinary Medical Center commits to the highest standard of care for each surgical patient. Our hospital’s surgical suites are fully equipped with sophisticated procedural and monitoring technology to help ensure the utmost safety of your pet.

At Village Veterinary Medical Center, we have the experience and knowledge necessary to successfully diagnose and manage skin disease. Untreated skin conditions in pets can cause long-term suffering and lead to other serious health problems. In addition, our veterinarians work with veterinary dermatologists to determine the most effective treatment options for suffering pets.
Our veterinarians have received recognition for excellence in academia, leadership, and quality of care. Some of our doctors have even earned specialty certification by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in canine and feline medicine. These skills, combined with the latest technology, enable us to offer excellence in many common diseases of internal body systems.
In addition, our veterinarians work with board certified veterinary internal medicine specialists to determine the most effective treatment options for pets.
Cancer in your pet is a complex and frightening diagnosis. However, cancer is, in general, a very treatable disease. Research tells us it is one of the most treatable of all the chronic diseases in pets.
The professionals at Village Veterinary Medical Center are experienced in the diagnoses and treatment of cancer in pets, and can help facilitate treatment with board certified veterinary oncologists to determine the most effective treatment options.
The team at Village Veterinary Medical Center is proactive in identifying and treating pet pain, from acute to chronic conditions. Our approach to pain management is deeply instilled in our general philosophy for proactive and compassionate care.
As your pet’s advocate, our job is to ensure no unnecessary discomfort or suffering. We will be certain to communicate to you if we feel your pet has a painful condition that needs to be addressed. We know your pet’s pain can be as stressful to you as it may be to them.
As an AAHA hospital, we include pain assessment in the health record of all patients. We offer the most up-to-date pain reduction modalities and will work with alternative treatment specialists to provide the newest and best care for our patients.
A Focus on Pet Pain Relief
Pain management has become an important issue in veterinary medicine, significant in improving the recovery process from illness, surgery, or injury. Research in people and pets has shown the positive effects of reducing pain on the overall healing process. Uncontrolled pain can lead to decreased quality of life and slower surgical recovery. Due to reduced stress and increased comfort, appropriate pain management may help your companion live a longer, happier, healthier life.
As a member of the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management, our professional team participates in promoting, enhancing, and advancing pain management in animals.
Treatment Therapies for Pet Pain
Stem cell therapy is a regenerative treatment for pets, especially those suffering from degenerative joint disease or arthritis. Stem cell technology enables veterinarians to extract adult adipose derived stem cells from a pet’s own body fat, virtually eliminating the risk of rejection or negative reaction.
Once implanted, stem cells have the ability to stimulate regeneration, reduce pain and inflammation, and assist in the repair of damaged tissue. This therapy is used to relieve pain and increase range of motion in pets suffering with joint pain, arthritis, tendon and ligament damage, hip dysplasia, and cartilage damage.
Many of our doctors have a special interest in canine reproduction. They have advanced training and extensive experience in assisting breeders with reproductive issues. Their enthusiasm for this aspect of veterinary care is a benefit to patients and pet owners.
In addition to our experience, Village Veterinary Medical Center is an International Canine Semen Banks (ICSB) franchise. As such, we utilize the technologies developed by ICSB in Oregon.

In addition, Village Veterinary Medical Center is certified by the University of Pennsylvania PennHIP program. When PennHIP evaluations are incorporated into a breeding management program, you can significantly reduce offspring joint laxity and the resulting risk for hip dysplasia in predisposed breeds such as German shepherds and golden retrievers. PennHIP is the gold standard for predicting a dog’s chance of developing osteoarthritis of the hip joints.
