Finding underlying conditions
Some conditions in pets, like heartworm, kidney disease, and diabetes, don’t typically present symptoms until late in the course of disease. We recommend annual comprehensive blood and urine tests for all middle–aged and older pets. These can check internal organ function, blood counts, hormone levels, and test for underlying health conditions, which allows for faster detection and greater chance of recovery. If an issue is detected, the goal is to proceed with treatment to slow progression and minimize symptoms.
