This collaboration with the Center for Avian and Exotic Medicine was invaluable to complete the diagnostic testing that had been done on this wallaby. He had an enlarged aortic arch and bronchopneumonia that we were able to further characterize with the CT scan so that we could get him on the right course of treatment.
The recent CT scan performed on a male castrated wallaby at the Center for Avian and Exotic Medicine highlights the significance of advanced imaging in managing health challenges in exotic animals. Collaborative partnerships with specialized centers enable Turtle Back Zoo to deliver optimal care to our animals and cultivate relationships among veterinary professionals dedicated to exotic animal health. We look forward to expanding these partnerships and our diagnostic capabilities right here at the zoo with the opening of our new Animal Wellness Center in the fall.
