Expanded multispecialty hospital adds 23,000 square feet, new clinicians and partner practices
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (May 19, 2026) – Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists North Scottsdale has expanded its emergency and specialty veterinary hospital, adding more than 23,000 square feet to create a larger, more integrated medical campus for pets, pet owners and referring veterinarians in the greater Scottsdale area.
The expansion more than doubles the hospital’s footprint and strengthens access to 24/7 emergency care, referral-based specialty medicine and partner specialty practices in one location. The new building will open to patients and their families on Tuesday, May 26.
The expanded campus includes the existing hospital at 17477 N. 82nd St., where sports medicine will continue, and the new addition next door at 17470 N. Pacesetter Way. The two buildings share the same parking lot.
The new building will house 24/7 emergency care and specialty services, including critical care, cardiology, internal medicine, neurology, medical oncology, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, and radiology.
“This expansion reflects what veterinary specialty medicine increasingly requires: access, collaboration and the ability to manage complex cases across multiple disciplines,” said Dr. Matt Miller, medical director and board-certified veterinary cardiologist at Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists North Scottsdale. “By bringing emergency care, specialty teams and partner practices together on one campus, we can support more coordinated care for patients and stronger communication with referring veterinarians.”
The hospital has welcomed eight new veterinary specialists in critical care, neurology, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, oncology, radiology and emergency care, along with 26 additional support staff members. In total, the campus has more than 150 veterinary medical and support team members.
For referring veterinarians, the expansion is designed to support faster access to specialty care and simplify referrals for pets with advanced medical needs. The primary care veterinarian remains central to the patient’s medical history and ongoing care, while the hospital’s specialists provide diagnostic, emergency and specialty support when needed.
“Our goal is to make specialty care easier to access, faster to schedule and better coordinated with primary care veterinarians,” Miller said. “When a pet has a complex condition, timely communication between the referring veterinarian and specialty team can make a meaningful difference in the health care plan.”
Partner specialty practices joining the North Scottsdale campus
The expanded campus also brings several Thrive Pet Healthcare partner specialty practices into one location, creating broader access to advanced dental, dermatology and ophthalmology care.
Arizona Veterinary Dental Specialists-Scottsdale will begin seeing patients at the expanded campus on May 26. Dr. Lisa Fink, a board-certified veterinary dentist and her team will provide dental and oral surgery services, including root canal therapy, periodontal care and crown restorations. Dermatology for Animals-North Scottsdale will open at the campus on June 11. Dr. Katrina Frost, a board-certified veterinary dermatologist and her team will provide specialty dermatology care for dogs and cats with chronic itching and allergies, skin infections and rashes, ear conditions and autoimmune skin disorders. Eye Care for Animals-North Scottsdale will begin seeing patients at the campus on July 13. Dr. Jennifer Urbanz, a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist and her team will diagnose and treat eye conditions in dogs and cats, including corneal ulcers, cataracts, glaucoma, dry eye, cherry eye and eyelid conditions.
