VALRICO, Fla. (Nov. 5, 2025) – Dog and cat owners in the greater Tampa Bay area now have a dedicated choice for help with itchy skin, ears, and all skin problems. Thrive Pet Healthcare and its partner, Dermatology for Animals, are pleased to announce the opening of
Dermatology for Animals Valrico located at 3434 Lithia Pinecrest Road in Hillsborough County.
According to recent data, 56% of Florida households own at least one pet, with nearly 40% owning dogs and 24% owning cats. Tampa consistently ranks among the most pet-friendly cities in the U.S., including a No. 2 ranking in a
2025 study.
“We designed this clinic to meet Tampa Bay pet families where they are—responding to skin and ear diseases that can affect dogs and cats' quality of life,” said Dr. Susan Baiz, board-certified veterinary dermatologist at Dermatology for Animals Valrico. “From infections, allergies, and autoimmune disorders, our goal is to provide clear diagnosis, practical treatment and long-term support so pets can feel comfortable again.”
Dr. Baiz earned her veterinary degree from the Central University of Venezuela and completed a residency in small animal medicine at the University of Chile. After moving to the U.S., she completed the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates certification program, followed by an internship in emergency and critical care in Houston and a dermatology residency at the University of Tennessee. She has spent the past two years at Dermatology for Animals in Tucson, Arizona, and now leads the Valrico team with a focus on skin and ear disease management.
Advanced Care for Complex Skin Conditions
Dermatology for Animals Valrico offers advanced diagnostics and tailored treatments designed to identify and manage complex or chronic skin and ear conditions. The clinic is equipped with all the tools and expertise to help pets find lasting relief.
“Sometimes, skin and ear issues in our pets can go unnoticed for too long until they are severe,” said Dr. Baiz. “By offering local services, we can help pet owners catch these concerns early, making life a little less stressful for both pets and their families.”
Dr. Baiz works closely with pet owners to create customized treatment plans that promote long-term skin health and comfort. Services include allergy testing, CO2 laser treatments, ear disease management, hair and nail disorder treatment, diagnostics for infectious skin diseases, and much more.
Dermatology team members are available by appointment Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call (813) 412-5711 to schedule an appointment.
