On this episode of the dvm360 Vet Blast podcast, Dr. Meghan Solc, veterinary dermatologist at Thrive Pet Healthcare partner
Dermatology For Animals in Catonsville, Maryland, talks with dvm360's Dr. Adam Christman about why it's important that veterinarians consider multiple diagnoses for skin diseases, long term management of autoimmune diseases, the significance of systemic symptoms and how to communicate dermatology issues to clients.
Dr. Solc on communicating with clients about autoimmune diseases --
One thing with autoimmune disease is that [the pet] may need to be on treatment long term. So getting that out of the way and saying, 'You know, we want our patient, your pet, to feel better. We're going to focus on some comfort,' but we want to be able to tell you that lifelong this might be a long term treatment. So, expectation wise, even if we get your pet feeling better now, we know that long term we still need a maintenance plan.
